downeastern northward is quite a phrase
PICK A FUCKING DIRECTION
Bangor and Augusta are north of Portland and the maine state government is planning on extending the downeastern line to have stations in the more northern cities, I really don't see the confusion
it's just 3 different directions
The train goes down along the east coast and while the train like any north-south routh goes both North and South but the Maine state DOT is proposing extending the route of the downeastern train northwards (and slightly east) to reach two of the state’s largest cities of Augusta and Bangor both of which are north of Portland. But the route name wouldn’t change because that would be stupid
