is there any good way to get from the northeast corridor (norfolk, dc, newark would all work) to the seattle area (likely everett)? i've been checking but i can't figure out a route that isn't prohibitively expensive

Capitol Limited to Empire Builder is the only real option for that journey. Unfortunately even when buying a month out it still costs 670. So if that is too much than it really isn’t possible. If is an acceptable amount than try buying a ticket on a weekday in mid July.
