I had good experiences with Pacific Surfliner too, tbh a lot of these are decent lines, but Coast Starlight is an odyssey in the ways the others aren’t.
You will feel like you’ve been lost at sea for 10 years and have constant detours for freight trains, freight trains hitting cars, you getting blocked off with police tape for hours because your train is under investigation for a trespasser’s strike, you fall hours behind and ahead of schedule multiple times. It’s great!
You’ll weep with joy for having solid ground to stand on and space to stretch in that a route under 30* hours can’t provide
I was hoping you would say that, the PNW needs to be knocked a peg after getting second place in the full bracket and now almost winning the West Coast Bracket
