I’m taking a trip on Amtrak in 2 weeks, in coach. Am I allowed to just take any seat in coach or is it assigned seating? I couldn’t get a clear answer googling/on the site.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I would most appreciate an answer if you happen to know

You have assigned seats when you buy a ticket but you can change to any empty seat once your ticket is taken on the Acela, it’s first come first serve on any other non business train
@riotsquirrrl I have amended the post to make that distinction clear.
Note that @amtrak-official has clearly stated they are "The 4th most fuckable government agency as decreed by CNN" and not the 4th most knowledgeable government rail agency. The distinction is important.
I just assume people are going to be riding the acela by default since it is my best and fastest train
