Basically, yes. My opinion is that they’re a flashy, greenwashy waste of money, and scarcely offer benefits over trolleybuses or diesel buses. This is the first I’m hearing of the explosions though...

I know a great way to improve Battery Buses!
Rather than risking a big battery, you could just connect them up to a live wire with some sort of low-friction sliding contact.
Oh! And you could put them on a dedicated path so the driver doesn't have to steer and only has to manage speed!
Also now they're guided, you could put multiple buses in one long consist, making it more efficient, because the bus driver doesn't have to manage the steering of every bus.
They could run on rails embedded into the road in cities, and then when you're in less urban areas you could even build the rails on dedicated trackbeds and run them at higher speeds!
Now to find some sweet, sweet, VC funding!
We could even put those tracks underground inside of city centers to keep them from interacting with cars, I wonder why nobody ever came up with this idea before?
