Chicago has just received over a billion dollars for the Red Line Extension project, a project that will add let me check 4 new stations to the L
Don't get me wrong, it is a good project, I just would much prefer if they used their funds and federal grants on the Circle line (pictured below) that was studied in the early 2000s instead since it would vastly improve the L and likely have amazing ridership. But if we are doing the Red Line Extension, I am very glad that it got the grant
Basically as soon as construction on the Red Line Finishes they need to get back on to building the Circle Line, because she would be so cool
These 2 red circles would unironically have some of the highest transit ridership on the country for a line just because of how they act as transfers outside the loop. And the Circle Line actually has even more potential when you factor in the Medical district and United Center for the transit ridership it would generate when not accounting for the numerous connections it creates. It is so annoying that this project that is one of the best in the US was shelved and we don’t know if it will ever actually happen
