How the fuck does New York do transit so well then fuck up the transit map this fucking badly. They stylised it in a way that is different from the terrain which is fine, but they they did what ever the fuck this is with that stylised map by attaching the subway map in a way that makes your eyes want to bleed
And we could have had something so much nicer, I still have issues with this map bit look at it, it is so much nicer looking than the current one, because it doesn't have random curved in the lines and actually goes all the way with the stylization instead of half assing it. Also there is non of that painful beige and the black on white makes it easier to read in the dark

When at a glance you can FEEL that DC subway map inspiration
I actually remember back when I was doing my art degree, one of my classmates was studying in the DC area, but had come from NYC. He was very impressed with how huge our stations felt inside compared to those in, like, Manhattan.
Now, I wonder what he thought of our subway map... This was from about ten years ago, mind. There's a vague chance I might have my art from that time posted online.

But being pedantic, the one I was showing wasn’t actually designed off the DC Metro, it was designed off the original 1972 Massimo Vignelli Subway Map that while a beautiful work of art was tragically never actually used by the MTA
