Okay so I was looking at transit maps to see how many universities have access to good transit and I think that every major university in a city with a decent transit network, the only large public university I could find in a city with transit that wasn't met by such transit in Pittsburgh where the University of Pittsburgh had a transit line

This does make sense as Universities are a great way for a transit system to get ridership, and they are a massive destination for people due to college, activities held in colleges, college sports, and the jobs held at universities. Plus they are usually some what near downtowns making them an easy choice for where to build a line.
