That is a very valid point. But I still think the scale is wrong. I believe most of Europe could fit inside Montana. We definitely need more public transit of all kinds. Keep in mind, however, it is more than 1,300 kms across Texas!

Idk tbh so does anyone wanna argue with anon or comment on this cause I’d enjoy reading the discussion but I have no strength to do it myself. PleASE

Montana 147,040 square miles

Europe 3,938,000 sq mi

The Lower 48 US states 3.1 million square mile

Our population density is much different than Europe as well.

We wouldn't need as dense a web of train lines.

But what if we had it anyways AND it was largely high speed rail?

God, I just woke up, why do I have to explain that the argument that the US is too large for HSR is just fucking strawmanning. If anything the lack of Density makes it easier to build HSR because less land acquisition is needed between cities. The US literally has the worlds largest and most used rail network at the turn of the century. The largest impediment to American Rail isn’t size its the lack of investment in passenger rail. If we invested in Passenger Rail the way France or Japan does, we could easily have systems just as good as theirs
