It's the southern most tip of the Midwest
According to the US census bureau, the states that make up the Midwest are:
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
Kentucky isn't on that list, but I do see that there is a fair amount of debate historically on whether or not the northern half of the state is considered Southern or Midwestern.
I guess I'm just curious as to why you're defining it with the Midwest when the state as a whole is usually not put there.
