While there is a certain romance to steam locomotives, I see no reason to preserve the polluting, ugly, inefficient monsters we call diesel locomotives, electrified trains or hell even battery electrific and hydrogen are all better ways to power a train than diesel
Even so, hydrogen and battery electritric both suck do a certain explosiveness, and battery electritics needing to recharge, making electrified rail or Pantagraphs the only real practical way to power a train
what about a giant solid fuel booster on the back of the train, would that work?
We are not doing turbojet trains again, they were a mistake in the 70s and are a mistake now

I like that idea, it could work if we add some batteries too
Yeah but only for shorter distances long distance needs to be Electrified
