How does one design around Urban Suburban Sprawl? Like how would one Urbanize it, have transit run through it, give it healthy community centers, etc.
I would always recommend increasing density by building infill, replacing single family homes with apartments, and converting homes to duplexes and triplexs are a needed start, taking under used roads and incentivising and allowing small businesses on them as well as converting them to pedestrian streets are both great starts to tackle urban sprawl. But what is a final blow is expanding transit out to those neighborhoods and making sure that transit its cheap, connective, and fast. Community centers are a good thing but density, local stores, pedestrian areas, and transit are the 4 things I see as key to tackling urban sprawl.
