Let's say you live in Chicago and ride the L twice daily to and from work, how much would that cost annually? Well there are on average 260 working days according to USAToday and the L has a $2.50 fare. So how much is that? Roughly $650 annually, in comparison the cost of having and maintaining a car annually is on average $12,000 according to the NYT. So yeah public transit of much cheaper to live off of than a private car

There are annual and monthly passes but I wanted to purposely go with the most expensive alternatives to show how even at its highest cost, transit is still way cheaper then a car. Also I was to lazy to check the costs of a monthly pass
