Bad News. We kinda suck at cross country trips ):
@amtrak-official This is awesome, but I think you should include the time of the trips as well. (Including arriving at the airport two hours early, layovers, etc.!).
I don't really know how to check that quickly, I don't really fly often
Also I feel like the cheapest flight isn't gonna be the closest analogue to the amtrak, since there's a greater base level of comfort on a train than on a cheap plane.
When I fly from San Diego to Memphis or the other way around (My college's nearest airport is Memphis & my parents live in San Diego), $270's around the cheap end for what I go for. Typically it's closer to $300-400, depending on when I'm flying or how far out I get tickets.
Of course, it doesn't take 3 days to fly there, but that's about as long as it takes to (comfortably with breaks) drive there. And on a train you get to relax!
