While I agree that there's a huge problem with the American rail network in particular, I want to point something out to @amtrak-official. That is an arrivals board for metropolitan public transport (specifically the District Line). It's not a national train service; it's a subway system, occasionally crossed with an El-Train. So it's a little more like having an 8 minute delay on BART or the Paris Metro or New York subways.
I get what you are saying, but I just think the idea of a 7 minute delay being bad is really funny as an American given the state of most US transit agencies
