A good climax to a hike tends to just be a pretty waterfall, the evil citadel seems like overkill honestly

I have a vision, I just think that there needs to be some expediency in killing the wizard. Besides, the point of a hike is for naturalistic experiences, the evil citadel is in a dying city on dead waste land devoid of nature.
