The South needs more good Walkable, cities with robust transit.
Sadly the Walkable cities have terrible transit and the cities with decent transit aren't very Walkable and the transit is under used in the best cases
Like if you think of good urbanism cities in the US, they are all in the North:
Boston, NYC, Chicago, Philly, St.Paul-Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, DC, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Baltimore.
Sometimes Denver, Madison, Cleveland, Buffalo, and Milwaukee are also included on the list as well
It is seriously an issue that so many of the Southern US's cities aren't Walkable given that the South is where the US's Population is moving currently as it explodes in Population.
The best southern cities are probably Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans, Santa Fe, Charleston, Savannah, and San Diego. But the issue is even these cities have major transit gaps, good urbanism is very mixed depending on location and most have serious sprawl problems
@tabaquis-creatures I really just put it in because the historic section of the city is pretty good, it is probably not one of the best, I just remembered walking a lot when I visited several years ago. Plus I really do have to stretch the definition of a good city for a decent list of good southern cities
I guess replace Charleston with Asheville
