The Northeast (excluding New Hampshire) and Midwest (excluding Indiana) are genuinely leagues better in terms of infrastructure and urban design than anywhere else in the US except maybe the Pacific Northwest
I would probably rate the urban design of regions in the US as follows:
- The Northeast
- Pacific Northwest
- The Midwest
- The Piedmont
- The Southwest
- SoCal
- The Southeast
- Florida
In case your curious if I break it down further
The Mid-Atlantic beats New England which beats Upstate New York
The Great Lakes Region beats the Upper Mississippi which beats the Ohio River Valley which easily beats the great plains
And finally
The Puget Sound is better than the Willamette Valley
