Have you seen the latest Philosophy Tube video yet? Granted, at the time I'm writing this it's only out on Nebula and not YouTube, but it will be out on YT in a few hours. It actually talks about urban design! It also features a cameo from the Dutch nationalist from Canada, so a word of warning about that, but it's an overall sound video. If you've seen it, I'd like to know your thoughts about it.

I just watched it and I think it does a good job addressing the issues of suburban design and gentrification, but the video never actually addresses the core promise of explaining “why we can’t build better cities” it talks about the issues that plague our cities in the present but doesn’t really discuss solutions or why our cities can’t be improved. It talks about the harms of gentrification but doesn’t really get into the causes of it beyond cities want to revitalize neighborhoods/need to make themselves a brand. It is a good video but it goes off in to many directions, but it is a bit shallow in its depth, and relies on the viewers already knowing a decent bit about urban design despite her having never discussed it before.
