How should new buildings in historic districts be designed

I think this is actually an important question to consider as we attempt to densify and rebuild our downtowns and the historic centers of our cities, do we want to focus on maintaining the beauty of our cities or do we want to prioritize getting things built cheaply
I like New Styles, but not for cost reasons. I just think if done right, it looks really cool
Yeah, maybe I shouldn’t have added the “for cost reasons” bit, that just tends to be why we don’t see brick and terracotta or cast iron buildings anymore in my head at least
