Isolation from community is a bad thing and harms us mentally, that is what makes suburbs so bad for our health, that large green lawn you have is worthless when there is nobody to connect with in said lawn compared to a park. I grew up in the suburbs and let me tell you they are lonely isolating spaces that are lifeless and soul crushing.
People are scary and hard to approach sometimes, I get that, but that doesn’t mean you should live your life hiding from the world. After a certain point, it goes from wanting to avoid people and enters a stage of paranoia. The fear of the outside world that we have in the suburbs is mostly fiction, you are doing yourself harm by thinking that you will be put in harms way by walking past a stranger on a busy street. Humans are social creatures and need to be around others to function. I am not saying you have to talk to strangers on the street, just that you should walk down the street
