Here is the metro area population over time for comparison, where Philadelphia grew by about 200,000 people, so my theory is that a lot of the decline came from the growth of the suburbs

He is responsible for so many problems but seriously the decline of Philadelphia in the 1970s is not one of them, he was off being a racist in California and complaining about Jimmy Carter at that time
