Do you know about any trains in the denver, colorado area?

I've been trying to get my family to do a day of just exploring the city with me, and I know easy public transport might be a factor in convincing them

The RTD offers regional trains to the airport and Aurora and light rail in the downtown, additionally there is amtrak to The Bay Area, Reno, Salt Lake and Chicago, I think there is also some sort of train to a ski resort but I don’t know which one
