The one benefit of having to practically rebuild the Northeast Corridor is now when we replace all the bridges and shit and upgrade sections for HSR, we can build them to modern environmental standards and not 1890s standards
Which of course includes avoiding hazardous areas
They've been trying to build a connection for cars across the bridge for decades, and that plan was much less likely to trigger a Defcon 3 NIMBY shit storm because the Filthy Poors With No Cars wouldn't use it. If you tried to build mass transit that connected the affluent Three Village area with downtown New Haven I'm pretty sure there would be literal, actual riots.
Long Island Sound link - Wikipedia en.wikipedia.orgYes but it is such a funny proposal and it completely fucks over southwestern Connecticut, so I want to see it happen, also it would be slightly faster
It would connect my family in western Connecticut to the city without them having to drive to Bridgeport
but I’d like the current route to also remain so I can go to westerly
The current route would remain, the proposed one is just for High-speed Trains
