Rating American Cities

NYC

8/10

It has amazing walkability in Manhattan and the transport is great but Staten Island and Parts of Queens really drag it down, especially when you realize there are no alleyways and The Rent is just absurd there

Philadelphia

8/10

It's pretty walkable and has usable transit, but the things that really seal the deal on my love for this city are the suprisingly low price, existence of trolleys and the culture. Needs some more corner stores though

Chicago

9/10

It's Walkable, has great culture, lake, it's got really good transit, it's not too cold usually, it has the rat hole, what's not to love about Chicago, the answer is Metra but that's okay, still my favorite US City

Seattle

7/10

Amazing momentum recently with urban improvements but they really dropped the ball with not building that subway in the 70s, the link and Orca card transit are pretty cool though

Baltimore

6/10

Extremely underrated but the urban decay is a real shame, I could really see it climbing it the rankings over the next 20 years though if things go well there

St.Paul-Minneapolis

7.5/10

It's improving fast, it's got leftist momentum, it's the heart of zoning reform in the us, the light rail is growing but most importantly, it's funny to put St. Paul first in the name

San Francisco

6/10

Far too expensive and it needs to build some housing soon, architecture and cable cars are neat though

amtrak-official

Boston

7.5/10

The Trains want to kill me, but the rest of the city seems nice enough, it was designed to make drivers miserable and that's a plus in my book

amtrak-official

Portland

7/10

Invented the modern streetcar in the us and has a lot of lesbians, Forest Park seems neat and is the home of gay Bicycle hipsters, what's not to love. Next

LA

4/10

You facinate and terrify me

amtrak-official

DC

9/10

They should do brutalist metros more often they are so fucking neat, I like the cherry blossoms, but evil lies at the heart of this city and worst, it has 0, count them 0 skyscrapers

amtrak-official

Atlanta

3/10

The drivers want to kill but they do have Peaches

amtrak-official

Salt Lake City

6.25/10

It would be cool if it wasn't literally poisoning the earth, also the blocks are to big and the roads are too wide

amtrak-official

I am giving San Francisco a point back, I was too harsh on her

amtrak-official

San Jose

2/10

Your paying worse prices than San Francisco for literally nothing, there is noting special about San Jose, the best thing about San Jose is its proximity to other more interesting places

amtrak-official

Detroit

5/10

Great bones but dear God what the fuck happened to you, I am so so so sorry for you Detroit. Well at least you are starting to rebuild, let's get you either a metro or a light rail or anything like that soon, okay little bud

Pittsburgh

6.75/10

It's an oversized College Town with a trolley system and some abandoned steel mills, I love her

amtrak-official

Houston

1/10

No

amtrak-official

Denver

6/10

It has mountains and weed, what else, well let's see there's a light rail system, and a bear downtown, even Philly can do that, and the bear in Philly is gay while the bear in Denver won't tell me

amtrak-official

Cincinnati

5.75/10

Absolutely amazing bones but the truth is they kinda destroyed half the city and that's led to the best part of the city being in Kentucky. OTR is really cool as well though. Has lots of great areas but the city as a whole needs something more, and that's an expanded streetcar system and a total rebuild of the west end

amtrak-official

Indianapolis

3/10

They heard about Car dependence and wondered if they could do it but more, thus the Indy 500 was invented so both the economy and the transport depends on cars

amtrak-official

Bellevue Washington

4/10

We could and should bomb Bellevue and replace it with Seattle 2

amtrak-official

St. Louis

5/10

It could be great but the urban decline really hit her hard, I think it is doing okay now but still needs hell, I have faith in St.Louis, Metrolink is neat though and should be expanded
