If you ever want a rough approximation of the service provided by Amtrak, imagine Deutsche Bahn serviced the whole of Europe except for Hungary and Romania which had no trains, it had half the funding necessary to run even the most important of routes, and only half the major services were even connected to the network due to decades of austerity and a failure to nationalize the rail lines
Also they didn't own the train tracks
The funny thing is that, due to decades of privatization, Deutsche Bahn is an utter failure by now.
That’s the point of the post, to show how bad amtrak service is in comparison to Europe
