Basically, the tracks in Southwestern Connecticut are very slow and very hard to replace due to the density of the area and large amounts of curves, this has lead to proposals to just go around Connecticut via either a tunnel under the long Island Sound or going up the Hudson Valley, the first of which I think is a very funny proposal
I for one think they should run high speed rail right down the lirr main line, because it would be funny
