Make transit an issue, show your elected officials that you want your city to have a light rail line, demand that they redesign unsafe roads, attend the community input meetings kn the redesign of main street so the pro bike lane voice doesn't get shut down. It's dirty and it's procedural and it's incremental, but change does happen if you show up and fight for it
Also for the love of God vote in your local elections, there are probably pro transit or walkability candidates running and the margins of local elections can often be a few dozen people. Having a good city council can seriously change your city for the better
