People love to support new housing till it has a style which doesn't 100% match with the existing neighborhood of shotgun houses and bungalows from the late 1800s
Like people freak out anytime something doesn't match architecturally with its surroundings when fun fact: that's supposed to happen, buildings get torn down and rebuilt and change, a city is a living organism
This is true, however stating it without recognition of the forces that are actually doing the knocking down, rebuilding, and change and why they are doing those things is oversimplifying at best. People don't want to get their neighborhoods gentrified; that shouldn't be newsworthy information.
That’s fair, I was just trying to say that we need to accept that preventing new styles of architecture from being built in an area is dumb, I agree that things need to be done with new developments to prevent gentrification but fighting over the look of a building isn’t really going to stop gentrification from happening
