Wouldn't it be nice if there were more than 3 train building companies. Because like Alstom is incompetent, Siemens is Siemens, and I mean I guess there aren't many issues with Hitachi but they just don't make Trains for America that often
I guess there is also Kawalski and Kinki Sharyo but they more make Trains for inner city movement and less so for inter city travel
Well I suppose GE did make the genesis so Car companies are capable of making trains if they want to but like do we want to do that and they don't seem to bid on projects much anyways
Oh yeah, there is also CRRC but they aren't very active in the states and I don't see that changing due to current politics between the US and China. Also they seem to only really have made one train in the US and that's the 7000 series for the CTA
What happened to Budd?
They went bankrupt in 2014
Actually the more I think about this, the more I realize there are a lot of train companies, just not many that are active in the US all that much since like Stadler and Talgo also exist
I feel like they would be more likely to make trains for the US if the US was more interested in trains. The market for trains here seems kinda small without a lot of room for other companies to get involved.
If only there was a large infrastructure campaign to build more passenger rail like a certain president campaigned on
which certain president?
The current one
