Can someone talk to me about architecture, I am deprived of enrichment
Was discussing architecture with my spoose recently because we took the train downtown and architecture inevitably comes up in conversation when one is in downtown Chicago. He said he read that ornamentation is starting to come back into fashion, which we agreed would be a huge improvement over the minimalist glass-and-steel style that's dominated for the last several decades and has produced a couple interesting buildings and a lot of boring ones. What's your opinion?
mmmmm gonna defend him a bit i’m afraid. his buildings are cool because they were some of the first ones to have non supportive outer walls, instead it’s like all glass. which personally i think looks pretty but ALSO the glass is slowly turning amber over time which i also think is pretty. he has a lot of subtle references to ancient greece like his use of bronze, marble interior, etc. aesthetically it’s not my absolute favorite but i would take it over venturi.
I know his work is important and impressive, and i do agree there is merit to it, I just personally don’t like the look of his work very much
