The Staten Island Railroad needs to be expanded so that Staten Island can actually be densified to allow for the lowering of NYC rents because there is so much wasted space on that island, like it is just standard American suburbs on there and it could be so much better if we densified it. And density can be most easily allowed for by expanding transit
Imagine being less invasive.
I agree, suburbs are invasive and devour the earth leaving permanent damage. AND the lawns don't even use native grasses so they are incredibly harmful towards the ecosystem. That's why we need to densify Staten island so that the island can be a more sustainable place for people to live and have more space for true nature
Population density & purity go well together?
Huh? What do you mean purity?
True nature is pure nature, a priori.
What are you implying exactly, are you saying people shouldn't live in cities because they come into conflict with nature?
The distinction between the natural environment & the environment overrun by the human species, are not mutually exclusive concepts, - the human destruction of the natural environment is a natural phenomenon strictly speaking.
The enclosure of humans is not natural, if I may be so bold. Suburban blight is the “natural” (true) human behavior. This quest for true nature is a quest for purity, some ideal that will remain futile because change is the true essence of life, persistence/certainty is death.
What are you talking about, humans have lived in dense cities for millennia, since the times of Babylon. The concept of a city is not unnatural, it’s how humans have always lived, suburbs are a very new and very destructive invention that can not be sustained by our cities
