I am of the opinion that the transit solution to American Cities is the humble streetcar, I think that their versatility and cheapness to build and operate will make them a perfect choice for small to midsized cities that will be trying to build out transit in the future. Additionally many cities were built on streetcars meaning there are already corridors in those cities that are perfectly suited for streetcars that would benefit massively from the transit.
And before you say “Only 4 modern streetcars have been successful in the US” I have to point out that we can learn from what those systems did right and even the bad systems are still a good start for our transit networks, anything is better than nothing and everything can be improved
