Ticket prices are based on day of the week and how close to time of purchase they are bought. So if you want cheaper tickets avoid buying on Weekends or Fridays
Shouldn't it be the same price? The distance is the same. It's not like you're getting longer track for one of the trips.
It’s to due with availability of tickets because almost every amtrak route is at capacity
