So I am thinking about train stations as the beating heart of a city and they are temples to transportation and how they could be even more, some train stations have shops on the lower levels and restaurants, Grand Central has offices in it, Penn Station has a Sports Arena even if that wasn't intentional and I am wondering to what extent we could take this

Could a train station be a city, could people live and work and enjoy themselves all within one building, a temple to modernity and a recognition of the past

Ooh I like this. My apartment complex is right across from a light rail station and it’s got a sports complex, a couple little restaurants and some small shops. It’s so goddamn nice. It would be even nicer if it was like a bullseye, with a gorgeous station like grand central in the center of the plot, ringed by some greenery, park space, and public art, then ringed again by apartment buildings with shops and recreation on the outside. Rail lines could either be elevated and cut through the buildings or underground depending on the city. We could live in such a nice world if we can just make it happen

You understand what I am saying, we build an entire city within the train station, make it an entire world in and of itself full of life and nature and humanity
