I’ve been watching the new Disney Percy Jackson series and, excellent news: an Amtrak train is not only a setting for some of an episode, but directly name-dropped! They wreck an observation car :)

However, the thing that was driving me up the wall is that this train seems to be going from somewhere in New Jersey (probably with a terminus in NYC), through St. Louis, and is bound for LA. Now I’ve taken an Amtrak from Chicago to LA so it’s not like I’ve never looked into trains to LA and I know there are a couple routes they could take if they were going through Chicago, but I can not for the life of me figure out a direct route that goes from New York/New Jersey that goes through specificallySt Louis instead of Chicago.

My sister called me a train nerd for yelling about it to her while I was watching, but I wanted to 1) inform you of the cameo and 2) ask if I’m wrong and there IS a route that could make sense for this storyline

No route exactly like that exists but you could connect 2 routes to get something similar, Cardinal to Chicago then Texas Eagle which stops in STL but you would want to stay on the train, the Texas Eagle transfers to the Sunset Limited in San Antonio which takes you to LA
