Would centaurs be included under the ADA, because on one hand being half horse isn't a disability really but on the other hand they are so long they might not fit in normal elevators and too tall for most buildings and doorways, meaning they would have a hard time navigating the world without accommodations
I imagine that in a world with mythical-type nonhumans, there’d probably be a separate civil rights movement and therefor either a separate set of legal protections or maybe an addition to the ADA to explicitly cover them.
There’d be overlap the way there’s overlap between say, gay marriage and interracial marriage or medical autonomy for trans people, intersex people, and people with uteruses. Intersectional advocacy would be incredibly useful to both groups.
There’d also be weird gatekeepy discourse saying that it’s “disrespectful” for centaurs to “appropriate” the ADA and that they’re “stealing resources” or some other horseshit. (Pun intended)
The question of how do we modify existing buildings to be accessible to Centuars would likely come up frequently if they were successful in getting being a centaur either added to the ADA or established as a protected class in some other way.
Also yeah would there be groups who claim that because Centaurs aren’t human, they shouldn’t be given the same access to disabled resources as humans as they are taking them from disabled people
