I decided to write some quick lore on the centuars.
The centuars were once a nomadic people on the steppe, they moved with the land and hunted for food, but after the little ice age of the 1600s, there was little food, so many centuars began to move to the cities of Eastern Europe like Krakow, Kyiv, and Moscow as well as the cities of China. Overtime both groups developed distinct cultures within the broader societies they lived in but often faced discrimination as a result of not being human and were at times subject to riots and mobs that forced them from the cities they were able to do well in, eventually during the mid 1800s, thousands of centuars decided that enough was enough and sought a better life for themselves and their families in America, but were trapped in the same cycles of abuse, poverty and inability to access institutions as they found in Europe, leading to centuars having to form their own communities to survive, creating distinct districts within major cities like New York, Boston and Chicago. Centuars were treated poorly for many years but during the 1960s worked with black activists to demand an end to discrimination and better access, while lipservice was paid to their cause in the 60s, the fight would continue onwards into the 1990s as centuars fought for an addition to the ADA which specifically addressed the discrimination faced by centuars in America and the lack of access they had to the public realm.
This is relevant lore
Centuars and Humans can have children, the children have roughly even chances of being either a centuar or a human. Centuars can NOT have children with horses, that is a misconception
Other random pieces of lore,
- Centaur hair is always the same color as their horse coat, if the coat is patterned, so will their head hair
- Centaurs once in Europe were often hired to aid in plowing fields of grain as they could do the work of a horse with more efficiency and no oversight
- Because of this, on parts of Ukraine and Poland Centaurs are seen as modelss of hard workmanship for the youth
- The first centaur owned magazine in the US was explicitly communist
- Many centuar villages in modern American Cities were built with ramps on all buildings in solidarity with wheelchair users prior to the passage of the ADA
- Boston has the largest population of Centaurs outside of central asia
- The first centaur US senator was elected in 1997 in a special election in Georgia
