I will never not bring up the fact that current mayor of New York, Eric Adam's believes that he was sent by God to be mayor and therefore has the divine right of king Mayor
Because like why would I not talk about that, it's horrifying and hilarious
I think there is a world where Eric Adam's would defend the British Monarchs on the basis of the divine right of Kings
Actually I have no proof he wouldn't already do this
I mean he also doesn't believe in separation of Church and State and feels that inner city violence is caused by the ban on prayer in school.
If you want to know why that's an issue, remember that New York is home to more Jewish people than any other city on earth, the metro area has a quarter of the Muslims in the US and a quarter people in the metro are atheist, as well as the largest population of self identified gay people in the US, how is it not concerning that a borderline Christian nationalist is the mayor of the city
So yeah I hate Eric Adams
how did he even get elected?????
The Primaries had very low turn out (less than 10% of the city came out to the final round) and were split between him and a bunch of canidates who weren't awful
We literally just have to wait a year and hope he gets primaried out by an actually decent canidate
Or try doing something that would be very illegal and I in no way endorse
What are his actual policies, just out of interest?
Here is a short list of things he has done:
Increase police funding, reinstate plain clothes police officer units, ban homeless people from sleeping on the subway, clear over 300 homeless encampments, attempt to force a return to the office in 2022, attempt to resettle refugees in other cities in the US as well as China because they were a threat to New York, privatise Medicare for city retirees, attempt to over turn the right to shelter, claimed we should remove the requirement for windows in apartments, attempted to cut education and library spending,
