Noo, it's quite bad

But there are so many railroad tracks, how could it be that bad

amtrak-official

The issue is with everything else within the image, the tracks are fine

No, 1960s American Social Housing Projects are bad actually. They were a tool of segregation and used to destroy black communities and wealth. Yes we need social housing, we can see that in the modern housing crisis but demolishing neighborhoods and putting up towers in a park will not solve the housing crisis as it destroys existing housing, separates communities and removes usable land within cities. That is not even getting into how these things were built, poor communities were forced into them and then the buildings were just left to rot. There was no planning for the future with tower in a park social housing. Should these buildings have been demolished? No, that just hurts the community that relys on them to have any housing once again, but we shouldn't praise them for having been built. Also look at the location of this, it's next to a freeway and a railroad, this was purposefully placed in land nobody else wanted to live by because of how loud and polluted it was.

And that’s fair, that’s what most people would do, but when we look at the way cities function we have to account for all the factor in how and why something exists the way it does in that moment. Also Tower in a Park Social Housing isn’t very dense because of how it takes what would be a neighborhoods worth of people and compresses it into 3 or 4 buildings which are dense but leaves the rest of the land empty and unused. In many of these kinds of projects residents can’t even grow gardens in the park area. But yeah the architecture of these buildings is fascinating
