Tbh as a lesbian it's hard because I personally think most people get too caught up in labels and like 'gold star-ism' and act like real life lesbians somehow aren't good enough if they ever had sex with men, which I think having more lesbians in fiction who have had sex with men could,,, idk normalize?
However, like the other anon pointed out, there's also a tendency for men to think they can 'fix us' or that if we just give them a chance we'll enjoy it, and reinforcing that is,,, not good.
You said you can remove the sex she has with the man, which I think is the right call. But I'm curious if there is a way to make it part of their dynamic before she realizes she was a lesbian (so off-screen) or something? Or do they meet over the course of the story/numorous other reasons that wouldn't work
The sex would have happened shortly after he forgiven her for killing someone close to him as he has realized it was an accident and that he was willing to be her friend again, it was supposed to just be a thing that happened once and they decided they didn’t want to do again afterwards. But its a very minor thing and I am now thinking the story would really just flow better without it anyways. And it wouldn’t have the issue of being able to be read in a bad light
