Hey There Delilah, What's it like in New York City
Well I am glad you asked, it is a fascinating place to study in because on one hand it is the most walkable city in the nation by a country mile and has amazing parks and pretty good transit but in the other hand, the transit is rather limited, it is way too fucking expensive and they don't have any alleyways so the trash just piles up on the street.
Wheelie bins. The answer is wheelie bins.
(Smaller sizes are available).
I'm not sure why there's any debate about this. Put your household garbage in this, and then you won't have piles of garbage bags, you won't have rats eating through the garbage bags, and you won't have as much space occupied by garbage (because these bins can hold two or three garbage bags).
"But where do we put them?" The options are (1) the place you put your garbage before it goes out on garbage day and (2) the place you put your garbage when it goes out on garbage day. You know, the spaces that are already assigned for garbage.
This is too radical for the great city of New York
