Basically we need oil/gasoline to get so fucking expensive that all levels of government are forced to invest in good infrastructure like bike infrastructure and public transit

The reason that the “stop de kindermoord” movement in the Netherlands was so successful at transforming Dutch society is because it happened in the 70s and the oil crisis was happening meaning governments knew they needed to reduce the reliance on cars in that time.

I Stare at some guy standing on the balcony and start pointing to the road 3 story’s down, I begin to explain to him how the city plans on repaving the road with curb bumpouts and a bike lane which is nice but there are still massive flaws with the plan such as the lack of crosswalks at all intersections and the complete failure to install critically needed stop signs
