flareonfloof asked:
Morgantown, WV to Birmingham, AL?
The closest station probably the Greensburg station in PA, from there you can’t ake the Pennsylvanian to Philadelphia then take the Cresent to Birmingham
concreteafterrain asked:
new orleans to richmond (i wanna go across the ponchatrain if thats a thing)
The route would be taking the Northeast Regional to DC, then taking the Cresent to New Orleans, and don’t worry you will go over lake Pontchartrain
thediscsystem asked:
For the route thing, what about Denver to Atlanta? On a lowish budget as well
Funny thing, you can’t actually do that on a budget. Both of them are on long distance routes and very far apart. The cost is about 700 dollars if buying in advance. But the route would be California Zephyr to Capitol Limited to Cresent
Hey sluts, I have a deal for you, you tell me what you want and I find you the best route for it. Be it a day trip, a vacation or visiting family. I'll take a budget and find the route that fits it. Exact locations aren't even needed, I'm just fucking bored. Just give me a budget, and your city and I'll find you a vacation
Okay @minerscanarybyvanessacarlton, Downeastern to Cresent the is the east Coast done, next take the Sunset Limited and connect to the Coast Starlight, from there transfer to the Empire Builder, once in Chicago take the California Zephyr to Emeryville, transfer to the San Jaoquins, then take the through way bus from Bakersfield to LA, once in LA go on the Southwest Chief back to Chicago, when in Chicago take either the Cardinal or Lakeshore Limited to New York, once in New York take the Empire Service to Buffalo. There, across the Country in 10 trains.
weeberc3 asked:
For my bucket list, circumnavigate the continental US.. I've planned this a couple of times but how would you do this?
I personally would do Cresent to City of New Orleans to California Zephyr to Coast Starlight. That gets you from New York to New Orleans to Chicago to the Bay Area to Seattle
screaming and crying that there's atlanta -> charlotte -> raleigh train line. there is No reason anyone should be getting on a plane to go the 200 miles from ATL to CLT and i'm deciding to be very angry and whining about this
I know it’s not exactly what you’re asking for, but there is an Atlanta-Charlotte Connection on the Cresent
@amtrak-official this is partially a rhetorical question but why do I have to suffer if living in a train less south. This absolutely sucks to try to go up or down via train. The only thing I can do is go up to the east coast or all the way to west Coast. But living in Birmingham all my friends are in Nashville and Huntsville. Do both of them just don't have any rail yards or does freight just completely stomp out Amtrak from some of these areas?
The reason is the same as it is for a lot of things. Southern Republican led state governments see the state subsidies needed to run an amtrak line as needless govenment spending and that has stopped rail from developing in the south. This is gradually changing with the Planned Cresent Extension and Sunset Limited Extension. T
I mean I do know that but with the crescent expansion why is most of it Inter state? Aside from Georgia and more in NC the increased stations are just more cities connected to the network(good) but still limits intrastate travel. Not to Harper on it because it's definitely positive! Just a bummer as someone not looking to go outside the states borders I live in much. Is it because everyone wanted a piece of it and just forced it spread around?
Okay so the Cresent Expansion refers to a Potential Spur to Dallas along the I-20 route that is being planned for the Cresent.
But on the topic of Intrastate rail need direct support and consistent funding from state legislatures. The Connects Us Map shows more plans in North Carolina and Virginia because they are showing that they want to give us that funding. It all goes back to state funding with new amtrak routes
