lavender-and-daffodils asked:

I need you to know that your blog is making an impact on my subconscious. Last night I dreamed I needed to get from Miami to Boston without a car and the people I was with started freaking out about hitchhiking being our only option and I said, “It’ll be okay. We can take Amtrak. RIP the Floridian but I know there are other trains from Florida.” And it was okay. Because of Amtrak.

RIP amtrak Floridian, there was nobody quite like her. I must correct your dream south though, You would want to take the Silver Service to Miami from Boston, not the Floridian. Glad to see I’m making an impact somewhere though

When is Louisville getting Amtrak service again? They turned our train station into a bus depot and it makes me sad. :( I want to be able to travel without dealing with Greyhound or the airport.

It could be done within the decade IF the FRA approve the line Chicago-Indianapolis-Louisville route or a restoration of the Floridian. I really hope that the line gets restored because Louisville deserves Amtrak so badly.

Tennessee has the potential to finally make a good decision and help to finish off our system by implementing Nashville-Louisville service, Nashville-Chattanooga-Atlanta both with they’re current DOT rail studies

I do wish they would factor the Chicago-Indianapolis-Louisville route into their study since it would work really well with that Louisville-Nashville and Nashville-Atlanta route

Why can't Cincinnati ever have nice things? Why aren't we linked up to Louisville (besides the. The HILLS)?

amtrak-official

The reason is in fact, those hills and Kentucky doesn't want to fund any routes

@theinnermeyoullneverknow The Kentucky state government has decided not to do any passenger rail studies at this current moment.

theinnermeyoullneverknow

But is Tennessee DOT accepting public comment? Would they allow kentuckians to say "hell yeah I'll come spend money in your state if I can get there by train"?

And of course Kentucky state government isn't considering anything that might actually be useful, have you SEEN our state legislature? 🤦‍♀️

The current best hope for rail in Kentucky is the resurrection of the Floridian in the long distance service study

Finally found a public comment form!

I know that url looks questionable (I skipped over it in my initial search results), but I literally got there by clicking a link on the (Department of Transportation) .gov site so it should be legit.

amtrak-official

Yeah that's the offical website. Please tell them to restore the Floridian, Kentuckians and Alabaman will thank you in the end

I struggle to put into words what a Louisville-Chicago train line would mean to me

amtrak-official

Well find those words and give them to the FRA so you can get that train
