Dear Amtrak,

I live in a big city (NYC) but I want to visit the woods. For wandering and such. I do not have a car, can Amtrak get me there? Are there any national parks or state parks or such things accessible by Amtrak?

Thanks, Ole.

While the most famous park accessible by transit is probably Glacier National Park on the Empire Builder, there are some closer to NYC that are accessible.

Notably Lake Champlain and a good portion of the Adirondacks are accessible by both the Adirondacks line and the Ethan Allen Express.

The Delaware Water Gap is harder to access but The Main and Bergen Line from NJTransit can take you from Hoboken to Suffern where you can transfer to the Metro North Port Jarvis Line. In Port Jarvis you can catch a bus to the Gap

Thoughts on the go train (train that is only in Ontario Canada, in-between stuff like Amtrak and via rail and more local transit, also it's main colour is green)

(dark green ones with the round front is what it looked like from when I was 3 til recently until they started rebranding with the lighter green, the one with the more square front is from when I was very young if not older than that) (all the pics are from the internet)

I like the funny car shapes and it has a nice shade of green. These more local commuterish rails like go and NJ Transit are incredibly important and are direly needed to be implemented in more parts of the US in Canada
