I genuinely believe that our cities are improving and can improve, there are so many projects across the country to increase transit access, making our roads safer, and densifying our cities, I think that if we give up hope, that is both denying the reality of our world and makes the urbanist movement worthless. In general yeah, we should have better cities in the US and we should fight for them. Nobody should have to move to Europe to be happy

Anyways, this is an oldish drama and a long divide in urbanist communities, but it is a question that fundamentally affects my respect for you.

Do you think North America can improve and is worth working to improve

Yes, we can still work to improve North America and it is not a waste of energy

No, we should give up on most of North America

Real, it was fine at first, but now some of the Dutch obsessed urbanists are getting concerning

So I may have just heard of the worst urbanism takes out there,

“It was clear to me that to make a place friendly to cycling, it was more important to restrict cars than it was to build a bunch of expensive bicycle infrastructure. After all protected bike lanes are really just an extension of car infrastructure right”
