If even 4 of the routes proposed in the FRA long Distance Study get approved and built, the US would be radically changed, have better safer more green transportation, so send in your recommendations and comments to the FRA today because suggestions close TOMORROW
Tomorrow is the last day of public comment on the FRA Long Distance Rail Study
If you want to know which routes to give feedback to the FRA about, tell them to endorse and recommend Daily Cardinal, Chicago-Miami, Detroit-New Orleans, New York-Dallas, Denver-Seattle and St.Paul-Phoenix as these are the routes that fill in the largest gaps in the system and offer the best connectivity.
Someone tell goodtimeswithscar that engineers “saw” outside of steam engines by having the fireman stick their heads out the windows on the side and call out what was coming up
Via rail: “you have to go through security so we make sure you can’t hijack the train, also you can’t wait at the platform”
Amtrak: “go right on in, you can wait along the tracks! What are you gonna do? Hijack a train? They’re on TRACKS!”
Amtrak is just better.

Yeah the baggage checks on Via are insane to me too
Should this blog also post urbanist content or remain focused on trains
Yes, Urbanism is a fun topic and can coexist with trains
No, just focus on Trains
